Biweekly Consumer Newsletter

Arcadia keeps its consumer audience of 200,000+ members engaged and informed through a biweekly e-newsletter, “For the Greater Grid.” These newsletters became the strongest content touchpoint with our consumer audience, helping keep climate-curious folks to date on the latest in clean energy while providing relevant education on topics like home energy conservation tips and climate solutions like community solar (Arcadia’s consumer offering).

I worked with the marketing manager to create an outline for each edition, anchored in by a theme or a piece of hero content. I then drafted the issues, collaborating with editors (including legal and policy counsel), designers, and developers to fine-tune copy, lock in visuals, and QA the email. This “Greater Grid” format went on to inform strategy for a new B2B product newsletter. I also got to write for that series, “Future Current” (tagline: “Updates on Arc solutions that pull the zero-carbon future forward”), which launched with a 57% open rate.

Monthly industry newsletter

One of Homeworld Collective’s most time-intensive deliverables was their monthly e-newsletter, “Homeworld Confluence.” Each edition aimed to engage Homeworld’s community — technical professionals committed to advancing climate solutions rooted in biotechnology — by elevating new job openings within this niche industry, opportunities to secure funding that could empower new discoveries, innovation across the growing field, and relevant upcoming events. The newsletter also served to highlight Homeworld’s latest developments, including new research initiatives, recent hires, their Garden Grants program, blog posts, and podcasts episodes.

As a critical monthly content stream, it was my responsibility to identify studies and reports, funding opps, and events worthy of spotlighting; collaborate with the team on the strategy for spotlighting internal initiatives; draft the content; build and send it out through Mailchimp; and leverage the new edition on social to promote additional signups.
