no-cost Energy Conservation tips
This blog came about because I was working on one of Arcadia’s monthly newsletters — a January edition in which we wanted to share tips on easy climate action, in the spirit of a New Year’s resolution. After I compiled research and started drafting the newsletter, we realized that I had enough content to actually write a blog post with all the tips. This strategy would help shorten the newsletter section while creating an opportunity to direct to an Arcadia webpage.
I wanted to ensure that the content specifically focused on tips that did not require an additional cost, in order to make the actions as accessible as possible. I made sure to ground the reader in a few facts before launching into tips: we use lots of energy at home; conserving energy will lower your utility bill; conserving energy can also boost your positive climate impact (since our grid is not yet 100% renewable).
I closed out the blog with a call to action in line with Arcadia’s business goals: ‘See if you’re eligible to join their community solar program.’ Since signing up through Arcadia is free, it aligned with the no-cost focus of the blog — making it another easy way for any renter or homeowner to take climate action with their energy bill.
BOOSTING transparency for b2b customers
While Arcadia’s community solar program was initially primarily targeted at residential customers, the offering was also technically available to commercial clients. The marketing team wanted to create additional content to support this growing cohort, which is where this blog post came into play.
It was often the case that commercial customers would sign up and be held on a waitlist for a period of months while Arcadia worked to find an active solar farm with which to match the business’s utility account. The content solution was this blog, which both broke down the process of building a solar farm and provided proactive answers to frequent B2B customer questions and concerns regarding the timeline to when they would start seeing energy cost savings as part of their community solar subscription.
I collaborated with Arcadia’s Community Solar team to compile this information, then wrote and formatted it in a simple yet comprehensive way. This blog continues to increase comprehension among Arcadia’s commercial community solar client base, as it is now linked several times in the series of welcome emails that these customers receive.
Elevating the work of climate leaders
Part of Arcadia’s ongoing work is to support their consumer audience’s awareness of the diverse coalition of folks leading the charge on climate action. This content was written to acknowledge Asian & Pacific American Heritage Month.
I researched American leaders representing the diaspora and sought to amplify their work across the broad environmental field. I formatted the blog to focus on providing background information on each individual’s climate contributions, while highlighting their voices with powerful quotes. I ended the blog with a focused call to action: Join us in elevating the work of these leaders.
